PokerStove Maintenance

Tuesday, May 24th, 2005

I’m working on PokerStove for a maintenance and minor feature upgrade. Simply said, there are a lot of minor bugs in usability and interface that need to be resolved, and now looks like a good time to do it. I’m not sure how long it’ll take, but given how lazy I am, I may be working on it for as much as two weeks.

If there are any specific bugs or usability issues that you’d like me to resolve let me know here, and I’ll try and get them fixed for this next release.

If you have any minor (or major) features you’d like to see you can also jot it down. I make no promisess about how long it’ll take to get them integrated, but I’ll add them to my neverending list of “things to do”.

Poker in Praha (Prague)

Monday, May 23rd, 2005

There are a lot of casnios in Prague. But not a lot of poker. When Kelly and I saw a banner which read “Texas Hold’em” just off of Wenceslass square we went in to Casino Banco to explore. There weren’t any games at the moment, their Czech national team was playing in the World Hockey Finals, but the manager promised us there’d be a winner take all freeroll the next day for 2000 crowns ($80).

When we got to Casino Banco for the freeroll the crowd was still a bit thin. Aparently the World Hockey Finals weren’t quite over. After a delay of a half hour, the freeroll went off with nine players, all tourists with little interest in hockey. Kelly played tight, and won the first post of the freeroll, I played loose and won the whole thing. The other players were mostly poor to average. There were two young guns one of which kept spewing percentages till he was out of chips. The other took second.

After the freeroll I played 100/200 crowns ($4/$8) for a couple hours. The game was short handed, never having more than five players. The other players were the standard low limit types. One guy regularly raised preflop, then folded to my three-bets. After the game broke, he snuck up to me wearing a big grin and commented “Those guys were all really bad!”

Sometimes even the fish get lucky.
