Site down.

I’m sure that most of you know this, but the pokerstove.com site has been down for the better part of two weeks.  I hope to have this resolved by the end of the month, in the time being, the latest version of the software can be found at:

I had a happy surprise to find out that Poker Stove works just fine in Linux with Wine emulation. Well, I kinda expected it to work, but you never know.

It’s a great piece of software that has already helped me understand some aspects of the game better. But you already knew that.

    questions on pokerstove:
one, I am using version 1.21. Is this outdated, or still fairly new?

two, when entering players’ preflop cards i have noticed a strange pattern. If you use the preflop catagory to select a players hand, it gives a slightly different equity then when you manually select each card seperatly. Points to note here are that this only occurs in the Monte Carlo simulation mode, and the amount of difference gets larger with more players.
ex:AA(selected from preflop tab)vs. 9 random holdings shows an equity of 29.745% after 8 million games(trials)
AcAd(selected manually from the cards tab)vs. the same 9 randoms shows an equity of 31.070% after 8M games.
Also, the amount of difference gets SMALLER as you restrict other players’ possible holdings. I moved all players from 100% to 9.8% possible hands.
AA now had an equity of 33.049% while AcAd was closer at 33.771%.
    why is this?

Three, can I export my test results from the output box?

Finally, I want to say that I am honestly very impressed with the software. I recently paid over $100 for poker academy 2 pro edition, and pokerstove is as good if not better. I think the following might be an obvious observation, but pot equity(win prob) can not be treated as absolute hand value due to the power of folding and implied odds. Does anyone have advice for a systematic way to add this factor to the equity statistics for each hand? I dont believe any method could be perfect, but I am very curious to hear some ideas.

    thanks for the help, James

Will I still be able to purchase pokerstove through you or will I have to wait until the website is up again?

  4. StregaChess Says:

Do you still support PokerTrace? I wanted to try it and it does not seem to be downloadable?

  5. Juu Says:

I cannot send you e-mail :(. Spam filters deny it although it is legit and from Gmail :(.

Anyway, what I wrote was this:

Pokerstove is really impressive. I’ve written something remotely
similar for my needs and the evaluation speed doesn’t even come close.

I’m trying to use pokerstove for a research project. Is there a way to
pass command line parameters to it somehow or pipe input from stdin
and output to stdout instead of the GUI?

If not, are you interested in adding it?

  6. J.C. Says:

I was wondering if you’re still letting poker trace be downloaded? I’ve been trying for sometime now but the link leads an error.

  7. ICM Poker Says:

    Hi,
I’ve followed your blog for sometime and thought that I would let you know that I have completed work on my free, online version of SnGPT. At http://www.icmpoker.com you can use the ICM Calculator to compute 10 payout spots and the ICM Applicator produces IDENTICAL results to SnGPT and I’m giving them away free. I’m sure it’ll be worth your time to check it out

    Thanks

  8. guy Says:

hi, i was wondering if pokerstove takes into consideration that the chance u get dealt 66 is like half the chance u get dealt AKo/AKs, ah i can figure whether it does or doesnt

  9. guy Says:

    haha ofcourse it does

  10. guy Says:

but can u tell me why 22 is not in a top 20% hand? I played a bunch of sngs and People call with 22 way more often than hands like K8s, Q9s, J9s, T9, QT, JT

22-55 is like auto call for these people, same in 6max, they are raising 22-55 100% of time, even tho my pahud says they are raising 20% of the time,

is the value of the hand determined from T9o vs 100% random hands, 22 vs 100% random hands and T9 does better?
